In His Grip
Dr. Chuck F. Betters
Dear Members and Friends of Glasgow Church:
We are gearing up for the fall, and I cannot tell you how excited I am about that. For the first time in many years we have a clear pathway forward for our Community Groups (aka, house churches). As we continue to plan for the fall, information will be coming at you. But it does no good if you do not take the time to read it. Often, I hear people say, "The staff does not communicate with us." Nothing could be further from the truth. The written communiques are numerous and often. Everything that is going on is there for you to read.
Someone recently told me that they had heard nothing about the decisions we made last year at the congregational meeting concerning the $3 million campaign. When I reminded them of the numerous articles and updates we (I and Chuck L.) have written over the past year, the response was "I guess I missed that." Email newsletters are sent out every week and bulletins are distributed on Sundays. If you are not up to date, reason tells me that may very well be your own fault. So READ YOUR NEWSLETTERS.
Well, the same holds true for the fall program. We have Family Night starting up on Wednesday, September 8th. There will be a plethora of electives for the women and the men will continue to study with Bill Strickland. There are kids programs, sports and recreation programs, GCA and GCA Home School activities, special dinners, and much more.

Things Are Happening at Glasgow on Sunday Mornings!
On Sunday, September 12th, 9:15-10:15 a.m., we will kick off our every Sunday Morning Connections Hour with something for every age group. Come join us!
Birth to 5 years of age will have the opportunity for free play in our staffed nursery wing. Nursery will open at 9:15 a.m. 1st to 8th grades will have the opportunity to participate in our newly formed "GLASGOW KIDZ IN MOTION MUSIC AND DRAMA TROUPE." This newly formed ministry will encompass singing, drama, and choreography. Our "Kidz in Motion Troupe" will help lead worship once a month starting in October. All children in grades 1-8 are welcome and encouraged to participate. If you have seen any of the children's dramatic musicals in the past (Jailhouse Rock) or the Teens Showstopper numbers in the Christmas Dramatic Musicals, you know what to expect. If not, you are in for a real treat. More information regarding this ministry will be available before and after church, this Sunday, September 5th, at the "Kidz in Motion" table outside the front doors under the portico. Please stop by to sign your children up! You may email Heidi Nequist with any questions.
The Troupe will meet in the third floor LOFT. (Junior High kids may choose between Sunday School and Kidz in Motion.) A Junior/Senior High Sunday School Class (grades 7-12) with Mr. Michael Shannon will meet in the library.
Connections Cafe for All Adults
Now that we have taken care of ALL your children, you have the opportunity to spend an hour, over coffee, in the company of those with whom you worship. This is a great time to meet new people, reconnect with those you haven't seen in a while, and spend time talking to ministry leaders. Worship is all that more special when you know the people with whom you are worshipping. The Connections Cafe is a great place to bring new friends to make them feel warm and welcome before they enter the sanctuary for the first time. Every Sunday, the Cafe will be in the Fellowship Hall, 9:15-10:15 a.m., with overflow into the gym.
Covenant Fellowship Productions
Covenant Fellowship Productions, the Drama Ministry at Glasgow Church, will be reconvening this fall and is looking for actors, stage hands, and other talents such as administration, etc. If you are interested, seek out Robert Huntington at the Connections Cafe on Aug. 22, 29, or Sept. 5 or e-mail him.

Children's Ministry News
"Miss" Vicky Mullen
This Sunday is the last opportunity you will have to register your children early for the Wednesday evening programs and still receive the early bird discount. A table will be set up outside the main entrance to the church, before and after the worship service, to sign up your children.
Our programs begin next Wednesday, September 8, at 6:30 p.m. However, for this first evening, we are asking parents and children in the 1st-6th grade programs to gather in the sanctuary by 6:10 p.m. We will introduce the leaders and give a very brief overview of our boys and girls programs at this time. The meeting will finish by 6:25 so that parents can get to their adult bible studies on time. The leaders will bring the children back to the classrooms.
We are looking forward to an exciting time when the halls and classrooms come alive again with the energy and enthusiasm of children! Please be praying for the leaders as they prepare the lessons and lead the children each Wednesday and for the hearts of our children to be receptive to our Lord. Thank you for entrusting your children to us.
All Campuses Praise Band Auditions
It is time again to hold auditions for praise bands. We are in need of talented individuals on every instrument to lead our campus congregations in worship. Specifically, we need electric guitarists, acoustic guitarists, bass guitarists and drummers. If you play an instrument or sing and would like to get involved, this is what you need to do: Email Tyler Brown to let him know with which instrument you would like to audition. Instrumentalists will receive the materials needed to prepare for the audition which will be held in the sanctuary of the Glasgow campus on Tuesday, September 14th. Inquiring musicians from ALL campuses should attend this audition if they want to play at their primary campus. We will do our best to accommodate all those who audition but we cannot guarantee a regular spot to everyone.
If you are interested in auditioning for a lead vocalist spot at any campus, please email Tyler but be aware that the vocal auditions will not be held until a later date.
Woman to Woman

Volunteer Teams
If you are looking to help out and haven't found a place then we can offer these suggestions. We are building and re-building many of our Volunteer Teams here at Glasgow. The Tech Team provides audio/video and media distribution for worship gatherings, where we need musicians and singers for the Worship Team. . The Facilities Team takes care of maintenance and upkeep of the building and grounds during the week. We are looking for Journey Leaders and Host families. We need help in the Children's Ministry and Youth Group. And of course we need help with First Touch (greeters, ushers, and the Info Center) and Connection Hour (food and set up help for the Fellowship hour before the service). Here are the e-mail contacts for those who are heading up each of these teams (just click on their name):
